What System Does Your Subaru Garage Door Opener Use?

Most new vehicles on our lot have the Subaru HomeLink garage door opener built directly into the rearview mirror. You can easily control your garage door opener system without additional third-party remotes or equipment, all with the touch of a button.

We’ll show you how to sync your garage door opener with Subaru HomeLink. It’s very easy to do.

Program a Subaru Garage Door Opener Step by Step Through HomeLink

Learning how to program a Subaru garage door opener is straightforward. Most of the hard work is already done for you thanks to your vehicle’s onboard systems.

Follow these steps to pair Subaru HomeLink and a garage door opener:

  1. Press and release the HomeLink button you need to pair with your vehicle.
  2. When you see an orange light flash on your mirror, hold your current remote within three inches of the button you need to program.
  3. Press and hold the remote button until the light changes to green.
  4. Press the HomeLink button you need to program.
  5. Check the indicator light:
  • If the light has turned green and is not flashing, you have successfully programmed the Subaru HomeLink garage door opener.
  • If the light is flashing, you’ll need to hold the HomeLink button until the light stops flashing. Repeat three times.

This method works for many garage door opener models. However, some units require you to press a Learn button on the garage opener itself. If this happens, call on a helper to press the “Learn” button while you press the HomeLink button three times for two seconds each time. This should complete the programming of your Subaru garage door opener.
